HISTORICALLY SPEAKING

Elderhostel at the old Gaol in St. Andrews

Photo by Rick Doucet showing Sheila Washburn and Elaine Bruff in costume, 1996

Sheila Washburn and Elaine Bruff had each identified a business opportunity and, in 1996, they registered a partnership offering historical tours, ghost walks, entertainment and lectures in St. Andrews, NB. Being a civil engineer and a landscape designer respectively, each woman had to take a crash course on the Town's heritage. Some of the interesting records they uncovered will be displayed here along with other items of historical significance. Elaine eventually became sole owner and specialized in ghost walks and "step-on" guiding of bus tours as the link to the left will show you. She simultaneously worked as the florist in "Garden by the Sea Fabulous Flowers, Soaps and Teas" 217 Water Street E5B 1B3, St. Andrews, N.B. Phone 1-888-548-TEAS. When she became owner of this business in 2006 she reluctantly had to cease running the tour company.
