The death of Alice Elizabeth
Coughey of St. Andrews, NB occurred at the Passamaquoddy
Lodge on Thursday, April 18, 2002 in her 95th year. She was the
daughter of the late Thomas J. Coughey and Madeline E.P. (Wood)
Coughey. She was predeceased by infant brother Thomas, brother
Earl T. Caughey and his wife Estella, sister-in-law Betty
(Jamie) Coughey, and brother-in-law Lawernce F. Hashey. She is
survived by one sister Mary W. Hashey, of Fredericton; two
brothers, David J. Coughey (Lillian), of Fredericton, Jamie M.
Coughey of St. Andrews and many nieces and nephews.
She attended Prince Arthur school in St.
Andrews and achieved a B.A. from UNB in 1929.

She had a varied
career consisting of teaching, a long term employee of
Conley’s Lobsters and was a administrative secretary at St.
Andrews Town Hall for many years. She assisted with the visit of
the late Queen Mother Elizabeth in 1939, and was presented to
Her Majesty. She was a very active member of the St. Andrews
United Baptist Church as treasurer, Sunday School teacher and
sang in the choir. The later years she wrote and published a
history of the church. She was very active in the Canadian Club
of St. Andrews and the Pythian sisters. She also assisted her
mother with the St. Andrews library.

A Memorial Service will be held at the St.
Andrews United Baptist Church on Saturday April 27, at 2pm with
Rev. Buck Booker officiating. Donations to the St. Andrews
United Baptist Church, Passamaquoddy Lodge, 230 Sophia Street,
St. Andrews, NB E5B 2C2 or donors choice
would be greatly appreciated by the family. MacDonald Select
Community Funeral Home, 20 Marks Street, St. Stephen, E3L 2B2,
is in care of
arrangements.
