Audrey (Washburn) Magee passed
away on June 13, 2000 at the Saint John
Regional Hospital after a brave struggle with cancer.
She was born on August 9, 1939 in Wirral,
N.B. She was the oldest daughter of Mabel and the late
Hibbert Washburn. She is survived by her spouse of
forty-two years, Douglas V. Magee of Grand Bay.
Audrey is also survived by her six
children, Richard (Allyson) of Grand Bay; David (Lisa) of
Bridgewater, N.S.; John (Christine) of Cornwall, N.S.; William
(Heather) of Grand Bay; Robert (Kelly) of Dartmouth, N.S.;
Caroline of Saint John, her mother Mabel Washburn of Wirral,
N.B. and siblings Owen Washburn of Fredericton; Barbara Dryden
of Grand Bay; Larry Washburn of Wirral; David Washburn of Wirral;
Diane Sloat of Cornwall, N.S. She was a loving Grandmother
for her eight grandchildren: Greg, Nathan, Nick, Colin,
Danielle, Robin, Shane and Shantel. She had many nieces
and nephews. |
Audrey was predeceased by her father
Hibbert Washburn and an infant daughter, Wendy Lynn.
At the time of her death Audrey was
employed as a nurse, working with the Cam Unit at St. Joseph’s
Hospital. She had worked the majority of her nursing
career at Centracare where she was known as one of the “Golden
Girls”.
Audrey was well known in Grand Bay for
the beautiful gardens and flowers that surrounded her
home. She was known as a loving and compassionate person
with endless energy for helping those in need. She was a
member of Saint John’s Anglican Church in Grand Bay. One
of Audrey’s proudest accomplishments was returning to school
after raising a large family and graduating as a registered
nurse on December 15, 1988.
Audrey's funeral service was held on
Friday, June 16, 2000.
